Spring Hill, FL – November 8, 2014 saw the pastoral Crews Lake Wilderness Park transformed into the inaugural Playing It Forward Music Festival. The festival was presented by the nonprofit Pay It Forward Farm (PIFF) and drew 1000-1500 attendees.
The music festival ran from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and featured six live bands. The day’s performance lineup featured the following bands who donated their time and talents:
- Gary Pane, Manatee Man (Children’s Musician)
- Makayla Honaker (Female Vocalist)
- Silent Scream (Classic Rock)
- J2 (Rock/Pop/Soul Duo)
- Glad All Over Band (Classic Rock)
- Those Unscrupulous Sunspots (American, Country Rock)
The day also included food trucks, craft and vendor tables and a drum circle presented by DanceCraft. Kids’ entertainment and fun included crafts and games, face-painting, caricature drawings and Rock Star Photo Station.
The event benefited Pay It Forward Farm programs that provide single mothers and their children help through life’s barriers with a hand up rather than a hand out.
Highlights of the day came through testimonials from current PIFF members about the personal successes they have achieved from the PIFF programs. This included taking the stage and putting into practice what they learned in public speaking classes in front of the hundreds of festival attendees.
I also had so many comments on how well-organized we were and how helpful we were to the vendors. Many vendors have already committed to coming back next year,” said Christine Collins, PIFF Executive Director.
The Festival’s presenting sponsor was Team Crouse, John and Mary Crouse – Realtors. Other community sponsors included Spring Hill Now, Hulafrog, Achieva Credit Union, Meadowlawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home and Pasco County Parks & Recreation.
